Sinopsis:Tetsuya Azuma ( 東鉄也? Azuma Tetsuya ) , también conocido como Casshern , es un androide con una conciencia humana, también conocida como neoroider ( 人造人間? Jinzo Ningen , literalmente, "artificial humana" ) . Tetsuya se entregó a un androide para cazar y destruir a los robots que se han apoderado del mundo.
Su padre biológico, el Dr. Kotaro Azuma, fue el inventor de los autómatas que estaban destinados originalmente para servir a la humanidad. Sin embargo, el primer androide, BK-1, fue alcanzado por un rayo y se salió de control. A pesar de grandes esfuerzos para detenerlo, BK-1 utiliza su gran fuerza para escapar del castillo. Después de algún tiempo, se renombró Buraiking Jefe (a menudo mal traducido en Inglés como "Rey Negro Jefe"; el nombre se deriva de無頼o burai, es decir, pícaro o bruta, utilizando los símbolos de "confianza" y "nada", pero fonéticamente " Bu Rai" puede significar 'hombre del relámpago' o 'Lightning Warrior', por lo que el nombre se ajusta con su fondo).
